Job Purpose

The Director of Human Resources aligns strategic business objectives with employees and management, serving as consultant to management on human resource-related issues. The Director HR maintains a business literacy about financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.  This individual proactively develops integrated solutions to HR issues, including workforce planning, employment, employee relations, and EEO compliance.  Building partnerships across business leadership, employees, and the HR organization, this individual provides value-added service to that reflects the business objectives of ICE.

  • Conducts weekly meetings with business leadership in assigned client groups
  • Consults with leadership and managers, providing HR guidance when appropriate
  • Analyzes trends in partnership with the HR organization to develop solutions, programs and policies
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to leadership/management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation
  • Provides guidance and input on strategic business initiatives, including restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Identifies training and individual management coaching needs and identifies/develops resources
  • Manages a team of HR direct reports (2-4)
  • Mentors and coaches direct reports and broader HR team members

Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master of Business Administration preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of human resources leadership in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in HR planning and resolving complex employee relations issues 
  • Experience in human resources in a highly regulated environment (such as finance) preferred
  • Working knowledge of human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis and development, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal, state and local employment laws
  • Strong business acumen, with ability to translate business strategies into actionable human resources initiatives
  • Proven track record of working closely with business leadership to effect change
  • Some travel required: 
    • 25% travel if in NYC
    • 50% if in Atlanta
